Hello!

Looks like you have stumbled onto my booklikes blog. I, unfortunately, am not active on this site. I update every few months.

Love Letters to the Dead

Love Letters to the Dead - Ava Dellaira Dropped this novel. Will not do a objective review on my blog because of it.

I didn't like this because the teenage main character was portrayed very well as a naive teenager. She was a pretty bland character, in my opinion. I couldn't get over how much telling was in this novel. It's basically a entire novel about a "grief" struck teenager writing letters to dead people about how her day went. Yes it was a coping mechanism, however, it's not a type of format I want to read.

Being told daily events in the most blandest of ways is quite boring.

I was interested on how her sister died, but not that interested to sit through the entire novel.

The Wrath and the Dawn

The Wrath and the Dawn - Renee Ahdieh Beautiful imagery, intriguing characters, and a well-paced romance. I was battling between 2-3 stars due to some issues I had with the novel, but as I got deeper in the novel my thoughts changed. The romance between Shahrzad and Khalid was well developed and it was a delight to read about their interactions. I liked how the novel ended.

Nexis

Nexis - A.L. Davroe A decent book, I just didn't like it. It wasn't for me. Wasn't a fan of the characters. The world was okay. Only finished because I wanted to know who Guster was. Thought I do like how complicated Guster became to be. I'm tempted to read the second novel to see how it develops.

It's still a decent novel to read. Worth checking out. The novel definitely picked up near the ending for me. So not a bad novel at all.

The Game of Love and Death

The Game of Love and Death - Martha Brockenbrough It was pretty good. The side characters were more interesting than the main characters. And the idea of the game was interesting. I wish they expanded on it further.

Escape from Witchwood Hollow

Escape from Witchwood Hollow - Jordan Elizabeth Mierek After much debating I finally found a rating that best fits my thoughts for Goodreads. On my blog I gave it a 3/5. Anyways, I didn't like this novel, I thought it was okay, hence two stars.

That's because the characters didn't connect with me. I felt like there wasn't enough world building and it felt a bit empty. The plot was pretty interesting to get me going that's for sure. I wish there was more to the story then what was written, if that makes sense.

Overall it's a decent novel. It's not the best novel, but it's decent to deserve a chance.

The Girl with All the Gifts

The Girl with All the Gifts - M.R. Carey Wow. A wonderfully written book filled with characters you can relate to. Loved every bit of it. Melanie had more heart and soul than most of the humans out there. Great spin on the classic zombie novel.
More objective review for the book.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? - Fujino Omori, Suzuhito Yasuda It had a great start! It was super funny in the beginning and as the plot furthered it started getting serious. It was a enjoyable read for sure.

The Call of Cthulhu

The Call of Cthulhu - H.P. Lovecraft Very descriptive. I like the imagery used in the story. Also I think cthulthu looks cute in my mind. Haha... But then again I think it's media that had turned him cute.

The overall plot on how the main character comes to terms with cthulthu is very interesting.

Confessions of a Hater

Confessions of a Hater - Caprice Crane It was okay. Didn't really like it. But it was fun and entertaining. Just not my type of novel. It felt like a retelling of mean girls. Very predictable.

How to Win Friends & Influence People

How to Win Friends & Influence People - Dale Carnegie I read this book throughout the entire year to try to better myself. This book was actually very helpful. It's not just a one time read though, it's much suited for a reference book after you read it through. The idea is to go back to chapters and recalling how to behave and interact during situations.

Dark Shimmer

Dark Shimmer - Donna Jo Napoli I really liked it but there was a few parts that I found kinda tedious and I didn't feel motivated to read.

Soundless

Soundless - Richelle Mead A very well written novel. The plot was interesting and since the book was a fairly fast read, I didn't really wanna put it down. If I had my way, I would have finished it all in one sitting. Haha.
I like the main character. Her sense of honor and attachment to family was very close to how Chinese culture works, so it's nice that it was captured well in the novel.

There was a few issues with the novel that didn't really bother me, but I wish could have been done better. Either than that, it was a fairly good read. Also, it's great that it's a standalone novel. <3 There's not enough of that around.

Siri & Me: A Modern Love Story

Siri & Me: A Modern Love Story - David Milgrim A faster pace story that reminds me of the movie Her. It plays on the idea of loving siri. siri does whatever she can to try to teach Dave how to love. It was an interesting read.
The girl siri was trying to set Dave up with was kinda annoying. But meh! That's just the story.

Traitor's Blade

Traitor's Blade - Sebastien de Castell GAHH. Loved it.

Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All

Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All - 'Tom Kelley', 'David Kelley' A well written novel that teaches design ideas while providing examples of situations where the authors goes through their thought process. The tips and advice really pretty helpful. Really enjoyed reading it.

Madly

Madly - Amy Alward I didn't really like it. It was an okay novel. The idea of it was interesting. The writing was bland and didn't catch my attention.
